What the sign-in keeps
Last updated 27 October 2026.
Games by Hoai Nguyen (games.hoai.net) is a small collection of browser games made by Hoai Nguyen for friends and family. Some games and apps are open only to people with an invite, and you get in with an invite code or by signing in with Google. This page explains what that keeps about you.
Signing in with Google
When you sign in with Google, the site receives your email address and name from your Google account, and nothing else: not your contacts, files, mail or anything in your Google account beyond those two things. Google confirms the sign-in is genuine, and the site then keeps your email and name to remember that your account has access.
What is kept, and where
Everything is kept in one private Google Sheet that only Hoai can open:
- Invites: each invite code and the name it was given to.
- Google accounts: if you sign in with Google, your email address and Google name, the game you were opening, and the date, even if you have not entered an invite code yet; and, once you do, the invite code your account is linked to.
- Sign-ins: when someone gets in, with the game and the name on their invite.
- Visits: when someone who already has access opens a game, with the game and the name on their invite.
- Turned-away attempts: when a code is not accepted, the code tried and what the browser reports about itself: time zone, language, screen size, browser version and the page it came from. This exists only to spot someone guessing codes.
Your browser also keeps a small note that you have access (the name on your invite and, if you linked one, your Google email), so you are not asked again. It stays on your device. Games may also keep their own settings and saved progress in your browser; that never leaves your device unless a game says otherwise.
What it is used for
Only for letting you in and for Hoai to see who has been playing. It is never sold, shared, used for advertising, or used to email you.
Who else is involved
- Google provides the sign-in, and the sheet and the small script that checks invites run on Google's services.
- GitHub Pages hosts the site, and like any web host it may keep ordinary server logs.
Removing your information
Ask Hoai, and your rows will be removed from the sheet and your access turned off. You can also disconnect the site from your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/connections; signing in with Google will then ask for your permission again. To clear the note in your browser, clear this site's data in your browser's settings.
Changes
If what is kept changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
